Engine: 1997 YAMAHA 30 ELHV Repair difficulty: Medium Repair time: 30 to 60 mins Repair symptoms: Engine is draining battery power. I lost my trim tab and didn't notice it until I'd been out twice. Discovered the trim tab is the sacrificial anode. Ordered and installed, but engine kept draining the battery. I ordered a rectifier. I had to remove several electrical components and connections just to find it, then reach it, but parts were laid out in order and easy to replace. The engine started next time out and ran fine, as it has every outing. But the engine is still failing to recharge the battery. Seems I'll have to take it to a mechanic.
