Engine: Yamaha 30 Shopping experience: It was a great experience 4 stars only because the supply line was a bit slow but not unhappy with the service whatsoever. Emailed consistently with updates and assurances. Repair difficulty: Easy Repair time: Less than 30 mins Repair symptoms: Gear oil leak out of prop and drive shaft. 1. Drain Gear Oil 2. Remove leg (5bolts one hidden under zinc plate) 3. Remove the water pump and all housings to expose 2 oil seals. (Slide hammer works great) 4. Remove oil seals with a flat-head screwdriver carefully to not scratch or damage the drive shaft. 5. Replace seals and gaskets and reconfigure the water pump. My impeller looked in great shape but would recommend swapping it out while your in there. 6. Did the "hack" method of removing prop shaft seals with drywal screws and a flat bar. 7. Replace seals and seat them with a pvc pipe. 8. Would have like to remove the bearing carrier to get at the o-ring but did not have the proper tools. (The Spline Nut on a 1998 yamaha 30 is frustrating.)
