Engine: Yamaha 70TLRY Shopping experience: Crowley had the exact parts I needed to repair my 2000 Yamaha 70TLRY outboard. Repair difficulty: Hard Repair time: 2 to 4 hours Repair symptoms: Water getting into lower unit and engine shutting off while idling After diagnosing the carburetors I had to clean the upper and lower carbs. I had to replace the middle carburetor. The lower unit issue was harder to find. First I had to order a special upper bearing housing puller and a lower bearing housing puller. I started with removing the upper bearing housing. Once I got this completed I found where the water was getting into the lower unit. I found a corrosion hole between a water jacket and gear housing. Unfortunately, I wound up having to buy a new lower unit. The upside to lower unit issue was Crowley had the lower unit I needed.
