Lower Unit Assembly 6D9-45300-35-8D

Engine: Yamaha 90 HP Shopping experience: Customer service was quick to reply with an answer that I had about my purchased part. Even though, I didn't get my part in 2 day shipping, cause of holidays, I did receive it quickly, once they received it from manufacture . The only problem that I didn't like is the surprise additional shipping charges after the fact of my order. Knowing this, might of changed my mind about buying from Crowley Marine. Maybe the problem is with their website. That's the only problem that was unexpected. Repair difficulty: Easy Repair time: 30 to 60 mins Repair symptoms: Lower unit wouldn't shift easily and was making noises Removed prop from old lower unit. Removed zinc plate from lower unit. Removed 4 nuts and washers from old unit. Removed 1 bolt from underneath zinc plate. Disconnected air line from lower unit. Tapped on unit with hand to separate from mid section. Unit came off easily. Prepped the new unit by placing marine grease on the main shaft tines and studs that holds unit in place. Made sure new unit was lined up with hole in mid section and kept applying some pressure with one hand and turning the flywheel with a screwdriver until the main drive shaft slid into place. Replaced nuts and washers and bolt that holds unit in place. Replaced zinc plate and prop. Connected air line. Checked for proper lube level...which it was full from manufacture. Water tested with ears. Then, test run in water. Gonna take it easy for the first 10 hours or so and change lube. So far , its working great !
