I am not a mechanic, but I find myself much more confident in purchasing from Crowley than going to my local boat shop and dealing with the attitude from the parts counter that is looking to score labor hours from me. Fortunately, we had two identical motors. Using a process of elimination, we learned that the stator was bad. We took photos of the part, and the funny thing is that there's a number on the wire that is not the part number. That would have confused the heck out of me if it were not for the staff at Crowley. One doesn't want to take the wrong part with them on a 6,000 mile repair trip. The ordering consultant assured me the new part was the same, and when it arrived, it had the same number on the wire as the original stator. Sometimes necessity makes us a mechanic, and thanks to Crowley Marine, that process requires much less beer.
