Engine: Yamaha 25HP Shopping experience: Very satisfied and the parts work great Repair difficulty: Easy Repair time: 1 to 2 hours Repair symptoms: Replacing forward gear and pinion gear was an easy task Disconnected the shifting cable, dropped lower unit and disassembled the lower unit to expose the gears using a brass wedge and dead blow hammer. Removed the nut that holds the pinion gear in place, removed the forward gear and cleaned all parts and pieces before reassembling. It was an task to perform
