Engine: 2003 Suzuki DF30 (QT) Shopping experience: Needed a fuel pump for a 2003 Suzuki motor - though it wasn't in stock, it was at my door in about 2 weeks (in Hawaii) - considering that it had to come from Mfr - which ate up at least a week, I'd say that's pretty quick. In addition, I checked on the status of my order after about a week and they were prompt and professional in their reply - can stress enough how import good communication is - regardless of whether it's good or bad news. Thanks Crowley!!! Repair difficulty: Easy Repair time: Less than 30 mins Repair symptoms: Engine idled and ran great w/ no load, bogged under load Had finished going thru a used motor I bought (changed spark plugs, anodes, thermostat, hoses, fuel lines, cleaned/synched carbs, water pump, fuel hoses) and finally got a chance to put the boat in the water. From the dock I put the boat in gear and idled out of the "no wake" zone, then as I started to throttle up, the engine RPM started to rise, but then started to bog. I dropped it back to idle and it was ok. I repeated this a few times and ended up having to putt-putt back to the dock (thankfully I got back). I was at a loss and was trying to find someone to work on the engine. Because it was older folks didn't want to touch it, so, on a tip I pulled the lines off the fuel pump and when I squeezed my fuel tank bulb, fuel was going straight thru the pump (my understanding is the internal check valves should stop it). Anyway, pulled the pump (super easy) and separated it only to find both check valves were distorted and not working so the engine was essentially siphoning the gas from the tank - which apparently is enough at idle, but not under load. Thanks to Crowley for being able to get me a new fuel pump I'm ready to head back to the water! In hind sight, I didn't originally change the fuel pump b/c of cost (thinking it was working) but now I know! Hope this helps anyone else out there!
